Do you ever feel frustrated that you are not further along than you currently are? Do you feel like there is this “better version” of yourself that seems impossible to reach? There's a Spirit at work that's dedicated to turning around folks who are as good as dead.
That spirit is better than the spirit that launched the comeback stories of Von Miller and Peyton Manning culminating in the Denver Broncos’ recent Super Bowl 50 victory. That spirit is better than the legendary comeback spirits of Tom Brady and Michael Jordan. That spirit is the Spirit of Christ, the one that lives within believers in Jesus, helping us all become terrific comeback kids too.
Athlete, nothing is more powerful than this spirit. Romans 8:11 says that “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you."
This Spirit gives life to mortal bodies. This Spirit restores the soul. This Spirit renews the mind and rehabs the body. This Spirit frees us from an "obligation" to sin and helps us "put to death the misdeeds of the body" that try to condemn our future and kill our hope and confidence. This Spirit helps us play error-free in life.
Prayer to consider today: O LORD, by the Spirit of Christ living in me, lead me to a resilient life. What great hope, great power, great victories await as I'm led by your Spirit! May I hang tough under the pressure to perform. Spirit, breathe life in me. I want be one of Your comeback kids.
