Athlete, God is an Athlete Too

God is an Athlete Too

27  “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

Genesis 1:27 (ESV)

You have been uniquely designed by the Creator of the universe. Not only that, you have been created in His image.

Genesis 1:27 says that God created mankind in His own image.

Whatever your talent is, how do you think you acquired that? Hard work? Yes. Parents’ genetics? Sure. How about this: You were given these athletic talents from a God who created you in His own likeness. If you are good at something, it probably means that our creator God who gave you that gift is better at it! God is an athlete too.

You reflect God’s image (and thus give Him glory) when you play to the best of your ability. When you play like a chump, it does not reflect Him well. God chooses you to reflect His image through your effort, attitude, intensity and sportsmanship. This does not mean perfection, it means maximum effort. You are responsible to reflect Him the best you can with the gift you have been given. How will that look at practice today?
