Today's Scripture points to a problem: Sincerity can actually get us in trouble. In fact, the Scriptures say that sincerity can even get us killed. Today's world doesn't warn us about this. It leads us to believe that “being 100” – keeping it real – Is the most important thing. Being open and honest with ourselves and others has become the modern measuring stick. It pushes us to make more of 100 and make 100 more. While certainly critical to developing good relationships with God/self/others, sincerity cannot become the chief way we make life decisions. Something else is needed.
Keep it 100, but make these lines sincerely matter more:
Sincerity cannot assure truth. Its presence doesn't automatically make something true and right. You can be as sincerely wrong as you can be sincerely right. Never sacrifice truth on the altar of sincerity. Be careful here. Don't confuse the two. It could lead to some sort of death.
Feelings can deceive. Stop governing your life by how you feel. Don't let your belly rule your brain (a good Plato-paraphrased proverb).
