25 "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death."
Proverbs 16:25 (ESV)
Athlete, yesterday we learned that sincerity does not always win the day. You may have the best intentions, but if you are not aligning yourself with God, via His Word, you are asking for trouble. Here are two more thoughts to keep in mind on the topic of sincerity:
Live with the end in mind, not by how you feel at the moment. How you feel should not fully control your calendar. A man or woman must do as he or she ought, more than how he/she feels.
Feelings erode commitment. Like the tide that pushes in and out, unbridled sincerity can gut a person's beach. Feelings too often can wash us out to sea. Commitment anchors. Commitments made mostly free of feelings ground us so that we can stem any tide and rise above.
Athlete, I have to ask:
How do you measure truth and pick a path? By feel or by what God says? What rules your life decisions, your belly or your brain? What rules your calendar, ought or options? What keeps you anchored, grounded, steady ... Is it more than sincerity? Is it a loving, steady commitment?
