Athlete, You are Made Perfect
29 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 (ESV)
Unless you are the perfect athlete, you probably have a few moments in your athletic past that you wish nobody knew about. They cannot be erased. Maybe you lost the game for your team. Maybe you quit before the competition ended. Perhaps you have a history of coming up a little short when it really matters. Maybe your best just was not good enough.
As a follower of Christ, reflect on three important truths today: One, you have not lived up to God’s standards. Two, even your best day will never be good enough.
That would be the most depressing news ever, if we just stopped there. Thankfully, there is good news for us in the third truth: God says He has forgiven us for all our shortcomings and He Himself makes us perfect.
