For a daily reminder: Text THEPLAYBOOK to 313131
21-24 "Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. I say to myself, 'The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.'"
Lamentations 3:21–24 (NIV)
Athlete, there's something we need to call to mind often. It's called hope. Our daily personal failures could buckle us and bury us otherwise. Do you feel this? Do reminders of your failures paralyze you? God’s promises help us override our failures and find hope. Take note of the things mentioned here:
God’s love is great. It's amazingly sacrificial, steadfast, ultra-extravagant, full of mercy and grace, best expressed in Jesus. He doesn't treat us as our sins deserve (v. 22a & Psalm 103:10).
God’s compassion never fails. He shockingly applies mercy and loving-kindness toward finite men. There's no end to it. It never gives up. His rich mercy is equal to His eternal justice (v. 22b & Ephesians 2:4).
God’s compassion is freshly served, new every morning. You can't beat “food” like that! Look for it daily (v. 23a).
God’s faithfulness is great. His faithfulness toward us is unrivaled, like daily sunrise to our souls (v. 23b).
Your highest inheritance is in God. To have Him is to have enough. God is worth waiting for (v. 24).
When you call these things to mind, the Bible says you will find hope. Hope has a home.
