Athlete, Think about Chocolate Milk

Think about Chocolate Milk

1,2  “While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked them, ‘Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?’ They answered, ‘No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.’”

Acts 19:1,2 (NIV)

Have you heard of the Spirit?

The Holy Spirit of God is a most wonderful gift in a Christian’s life. The Person and work of the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Blessed Trinity, calls us to action in positive, powerful ways.

It’s like having a championship coach mentoring, monitoring, moving us … always within earshot, always within view, always within. God does not want us to be ignorant about this.

The Bible clearly teaches that our receiving God’s Spirit is simply linked to our believing and following Jesus. Today’s Scripture is one of many that points this out.

Whenever we personally believe in Jesus as both Savior and Lord, we receive God’s Spirit too. He indwells His followers. He takes up residence.

It’s kind of like chocolate milk. Spiritually speaking, it’s the only kind He makes. Here’s what I mean ...

Jesus is the milk. The Holy Spirit is the chocolate. The two get blended and produced together. When we drink this milk, we get both the Son and the Spirit. We get a terrific Redeemer-Friend and His empowering, flavoring presence within.

The only way we lose the nourishment of His evident presence in us is if we don’t drink Him up or we let all the chocolate settle back to the bottom of the glass. It all pivots on simply believing and receiving, stirring up and drinking.

Reflect: Do you believe Jesus? Are you trusting Him as Savior and Lord? And are you acknowledging the Holy Spirit’s real, ongoing presence in your life?

What action might He be calling you to today? How can you stir Him up in your life?

A prayer to consider: Heavenly Father, thank You for the chocolate milk You wonderfully offer through Christ and His Spirit. I want You living and active in me.

Keep stirring me to respond. I don’t want to be ignorant about anything You’re seeking to accomplish in and through me, for Your glory and my powerful living through You, Amen!
