12 “We encouraged you and comforted you as we urged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into His kingdom and glory.”
1 Thessalonians 2:12 (Berean Study Bible)
Can I talk to you as a fan, as a follower, as a 21st-century consumer?
A few years ago, the NBA built its season-long marketing simply around the word “BIG”! They wanted us to feel the grandeur of its “kingdom” and “glory.”
In fact, every good sports team hopes we will feel bigger whenever we don their cap, put on their jersey, wear their colors and watch them play.
When we do, our level of play is linked to theirs. We lift them, and they lift us.
I'm still fond of wearing Yankee pinstripes and NY ball caps.
Reflect: Do you feel something big swelling in you that comes from being on God's team? Do you love to root for His kingdom to come and His will to be done?
Are you unashamed of identifying with Jesus and His good news?
Let's put on His jersey of worthy worship, wearing it faithfully, proudly, confidently. Let's honor a King who calls us out of darkness and into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9, Colossians 1:9-14).
Let's do kingdom work and live for a cause bigger than ourselves. Let's go BIG. Let's live BIG.
A prayer to consider: O LORD, You are big, biggest, worthy of worship. Lift my sense of identity and mission. Lead me to a Rock that is bigger than me.
Call me out into the deep where You are. Carry me forward, upward.
“From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher (bigger) than I.” Psalm 61:2 (NASB)
