37 “‘You are a king, then!’ said Pilate. Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to Me.’”
John 18:37 (NIV)
When looking for truth, where do you go: to a trusted source like a teacher, coach or mentor; to the court of public opinion or latest survey; to science or social media?
Or do you go to the Bible? Who or what helps you filter and find the truth? Who or what is your go-to?
Coaches and athletes watch film. That's their primary go-to. They study it intensely. They believe it doesn't lie.
It gives them the best picture of performance reality. It tells the truth.
Life's best truth filter is Jesus (John 8:31,32). He speaks the truth. He is truth (John 14:6). He invites us to lean in and listen. All good truth-seekers will.
Truth seekers are humble and teachable. They ask good questions. They heed God's Word, the Bible (Psalm 119:9-11, 105). They listen to His Spirit (John 16:13).
They tap into daily prayer (for more than just table grace). They seek godly counsel from other wise truth-seekers.
Reflect: Do you seek truth? How do you do it? Is Jesus at the front of your truth-seeking moves?
A prayer to consider: LORD, I love Your commitment to share truth with us. There's no better place to find it than in You. Help me to keep listening.
I need Your truth more than I think. Keep sending it my way. Thanks a million for every truth delivery I get. You're the best! Amen.
