Want a better connection with others? If so, toss a good question their way. Then watch what happens as you “see with your ears and hear with your eyes.”

Jesus modeled this often. He sincerely sought to connect by throwing out questions. His penetrating eyes followed to hear and His tuned ears studied to see what response souls around Him would offer to His queries.

Communication that really works functions at this level. And relational equity is sure to follow.

So if you want to build great people-connection:

• Ask good questions. They are learning launchpads.
• Give people your eyes. They are the window of the soul.
• Give people your ears. They are the doorway to respect.

When we do, hearts join. Understanding and being understood magnifies.

Indeed, a stop, a taking note, and a giving to others what they really need (i.e., our good questions to unlock them and our eyes and ears to add richness to relationship) may be just what the doctor ordered to build great new connection with others.

Imagine what our families, teams, communities and nations will become when we function like this.

Reflect: What’s the best, most satisfying question you’ve asked someone lately? How well are you developing the fine art of questioning?

How strong and clear is your eye contact? Are you known as one who listens? Are you good at “seeing with your ears and hearing with your eyes”?

A prayer to consider: LORD Jesus, may I stop, look and listen like You. I want to build great connection with others.

Prompt in me the questions I should ask myself and the ones I really need to direct to others. I want to see and hear and understand at full capacity, for Your glory, my joy in relational growth and Jesus’s sake. Amen.
