Listen for God to Prompt You

29  “The Spirit told Philip, ‘Go to that chariot and stay near it.”

Acts 8:29 (NIV)

When was the last time you went with a good hunch and were glad you did? I did yesterday on a phone call with a coach.

We got to a topic that he didn’t bring up but really wanted to and needed to talk about it. It was powerful. “We” got a big personal win!

I was fearful to engage, but went for it. I sensed the Spirit of God prompting me. It’s as if He was saying to me, “Go find out.”

And so, just as God’s Spirit had told Philip to go to a chariot and stay near it, I zeroed in on my coaching friend. Philip had a sensational, life-changing session with an Ethiopian leader (Read the rest of the story in Acts 8:26-40). And I had one with a Texan.

I also have more than a good hunch that God’s Spirit consistently works this way. He continues to prompt people … like you and me. He says, “Just go find out. Investigate. Invest. Explore. Obey. Let Me direct you to some striking new wins.”

Reflect: Are you being led to “go find out” today? Are you willing to be led? To whom must you go? What topic needs to be raised?

Let’s count on God’s Spirit to keep moving and prompting us. What a great way to live!

A prayer to consider: LORD Jesus, I want to live as fearless, free and Spirit-prompted as Philip. Help me to tune in to Your Spirit and hunch well. Move me … my mind, my heart, my feet, my voice.

And help me to let others move me too.

Thank You for every moment Your Spirit has moved me all along the way. I’ve so needed that. I still need Your prompts. Amen.
