19 "... from this day on I will bless you."
Haggai 2:19 (ESV)
The eight-word declaration in today's Scripture is a stunner. God throws down a big one on a very large group of people. He gets liberal with His blessings for those who choose repentance and obedience, gratefulness and faithfulness. That's His way among us. Aren't you glad?
God must mark the days of our confessed belief, acts of obedience and demonstrations of true worship. He sees and takes note of our gratefulness and faithfulness. These are the expressions He chooses to bless.
Though we're not always sure how and when, the LORD wants us to be confident that payoffs will come. They are inevitable. He is not slack concerning His promises (2 Peter 3:9). And His payoffs are infinitely better than whatever this world offers for all our hard work.
Reflect: How much confident trust are you placing in God's faithfulness to bring blessed payoffs for your expressions of obedience, repentance, gratefulness and faithfulness? What new step of obedience would you love to take and see the LORD respond to you in Haggai 2:19 fashion?
A prayer to consider: LORD, thank you for every moment You have taken note of my obedience and chosen to bless. Keep looking upon me with faithfulness, kindness, mercy and grace through Christ. You are The Big Payoff, my true reward.
