Athlete, Consider the Long Arm of the Lord

Consider the Long Arm of the Lord

1,16  “Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear.”

Isaiah 59:1,16 (NIV)

Archimedes of old said, “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.”

Yes, reach determines how much work one can effectively do ... the longer the better.

That's why baseball gloves, tennis racquets and golf clubs have grown bigger over the years. That's why standing reach and wingspan in basketball are more important than how tall one is.

That's why I like a long handle with a wide swath when raking my yard of leaves. And I love a good, loving arm around me and a caring reach across the table and a pat on the back.

The LORD has an amazingly long, loving reach … and He uses it … to touch us, to lead us back, to guide and shepherd us. His reach is long and strong to save us from sin, from self-deception, from the mire, from the entanglement and junk of this world.

Appreciate His reach to save and His initiative in Jesus to redeem.

So let's reach back and reach out too.
