10b "Then he opened the door and ran."
2 Kings 9:10b (NIV)
Dynamic movement marks good sport. When an energy surge or conviction moment fires, it often leads the way to great plays and winning effort. Going half speed usually doesn't work.
Today's Scripture (2 Kings 9) is full of dynamic movement, moments of decisiveness. Each recorded move is powerful, full of brisk tempo. It starts with one man who is told by God to execute a hit and run, to deliver a message and then get out. Read it!
Here's the point: God not only sends messages but He also sets the tempo. He wants us experiencing simple “hit and run” living so that we learn to play well and leave the results to Him. Our job is to deliver simple base hits. His job is to hit homeruns. He “goes yard” all the time, knocking good stuff out of the park. We don't need to feel the pressure of swinging for the fences (trying too hard or not trying at all).
Athlete, are you quick to move for Him at a moment's notice? Where might you be sitting on your hands instead of moving your feet? What fear might be paralyzing you or getting you to try too hard?
Prayer to consider today: LORD, create the right tempo in me. Help me to move right when I need to and to leave the results to You. Don't let me sit too long or overstay a welcome. Keep defining my mission, get me in a good stride, and coach me to greatness for You.
