4-5 "Then Jehoahaz sought the LORD's favor, and the LORD listened to him … The LORD provided a deliverer for Israel, and they escaped from the power of Aram."
2 Kings 13:4-5 (NIV)
Sometimes getting wins boils down to simply establishing the right batting order, getting the right match ups or just making the right draft pick. Who you select makes a pivotal difference. It sure made a difference in the NBA Draft for the Chicago Bulls in 1984 (Michael Jordan vs. Sam Bowie) and the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2007 (Kevin Durant vs Greg Oden).
In today's Scripture we see a powerful favor progression that grows out of one good pick. It rolls out like this:
RIGHT ROSTER. Get the right person in place, rostered, seated on your bus, secure. It all starts with seeking the LORD. Seek HIS favor. Don't think better favor is found in other places. Pick Him every time. Let Audience of One rule.
RIGHT LISTENER. When you get the right person, you get a great chance to be heard. His listening becomes gateway to any other relational success. God always inclines His ear to people who seek Him in humility, repentance, sincerity.
RIGHT DELIVERER. God provides deliverance by providing deliverers. That's His way. He listens and sends deliverers. His best One, His G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time), is Jesus.
RIGHT DELIVERANCE. God's deliverers really deliver. People powerfully escape FROM and TO. Their deliverance becomes sweet expected outcome.
Reflect: Athlete, do you have all the right guys/gals seated on your bus, especially the LORD? Do you need to change any seating assignments? Are you hearing from Him and being heard? To whom and where do you go for needed deliverance? Is it working?
Prayer to consider today: LORD, when we seek You, we find You. You do not remain hidden or silent. And You listen. I praise You for that, this law of life! Indeed, You provide deliverers and deliverance. Thank You for such men/women and moments! And thank You by faith for how you'll continue to provide! You're the best! Amen.
