12 "For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago."
Ephesians 2:10 (New Living Translation)
Looking up in the sky as we were driving, I caught sight of a bird that was soaring on the warm drafts. As I was watching the ease of its movement, a plane invaded my view.
The jet, traveling hundreds of miles per hour, appeared to be streaking toward its intended destination.
The bird, however, oblivious to the speeding plane, continued to glide effortlessly above the earth.
The airplane was on a mission, powered by its engines, flying with a purpose, determined to arrive on time.
The bird, if you will, was on a journey, powered by the wind, flying carefree, enjoying the moment, unbound by time.
The plane, droning, left a trail in its wake, marking its path with white contrails.
The bird, floating quietly, left no visible signs of having flown overhead.
Both were fulfilling their created purposes, but I wondered which one am I, the bird or the plane? Which one are you? Perhaps we are a little of both.
Are you introverted, soft spoken and accommodating? Or maybe you’re high energy, off the charts extroverted and driven to achieve.
Maybe you’re a free spirit and a creative, deep thinker; or perhaps you like rules and structure, and you love to compete.
Christian, the possibilities of your creation are infinite, but the truth is, whether your wings are made out of feathers or metal, you were created to soar.
“For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10 New Living Translation).
You are priceless, original, designed by God.
You are new, redeemed, recreated in Christ Jesus.
You are empowered, freed, released to do good.
You are purposed, planned and placed by God.
So whether you are a bird or a plane, fly for His pleasure.
