You Are the Dwelling Place of God

12  “May God, who has caused His Name to dwell there, overthrow any king or people who lifts a hand to change this decree or to destroy this temple in Jerusalem.”

Ezra 6:12 (NIV)

The idea that someone else dwells with us, in us, applying an invisible, guiding hand and a loving, comforting touch, is a most beautiful, powerful thought.

The world is full of people who subscribe to this idea, this truth. As demonstrated in today’s Scripture, King Cyrus recognized this. Do you?

That Spirit hovers -- inspiring, nurturing and protecting. And it becomes much more internal, beneficial and real than beholding externals like “Touchdown Jesus” at Notre Dame or the Christ the Redeemer statue overlooking Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Be sure of this: God causes His Name to dwell among men. The Bible clearly teaches that the Spirit of Christ lives on in us who believe (1 Corinthians 6:19,20). He abides within.

He protects His dwelling place and drives our worship. History proves it. Believers experience it.

Reflect: Do you feel safe, supported and encouraged by God? Has His Name found its dwelling place, its temple in you? How can His Name be better supported in and through you today?

A prayer to consider: LORD, I love Your Name! Thank You for making Your Name dwell with me, in me. Protect and guide me for Your great glory and my joy in You. Amen.
