11,12 “[God’s plan] was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.”
Ephesians 3:11,12 (NASB)
When Jimmy Carter was President, he opened the White House phone lines one Saturday to talk with his "fellow Americans." Only 47 people got through that day for a brief conversation with the President.
Access to heaven makes for a radical, extraordinary life. The one and only sovereign God of the UNIVERSE is more available to you than an elected official of the people. Christ-followers have access to God 24/7.
The word access refers to gaining an audience with a sovereign through the assistance of another. We have free access to the throne of God because it was secured for us through the death of Jesus on the cross.
By placing our faith in Jesus, every barrier that once existed between us and God was removed by Jesus.
Notice the descriptions of this access in today’s verse. We have bold access, meaning we can freely speak and be heard. Confidence implies that we can trust God with the things we bring before Him.
The writer of the Book of Hebrews makes a similar statement: “Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).
Though God does not always answer our prayers as we would like, they are always met with mercy and grace.
In Psalm 116:2, the psalmist portrays God as leaning with His ear inclined toward us. It prompts the writer to call on Him for the rest of his life.
That makes for a radical life for a Christ-follower. We will always have God’s ear.
