23 “Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.”
John 5:23 (ESV)
It's a beautiful thing to witness:
- A coach making much of his team.
- A player making much of his teammates.
- A husband making much of his wife (far beyond the wedding day).
- A father making much of his son.
Speaking of son-honoring, did you know that God makes much of His Son? And He wants us to do the same. When we do, it brings Him pure pleasure. When we don't, it dishonors Him.
We cannot sideline His Son and still honor God.
So how do we make much of Jesus? We honor Him when we:
Take Him seriously. When we see Him, we see God (John 14:9,10).
Exalt Him, placing Him before and above all else and all others in how we see and do life (Colossians 1:18).
Know what He says, devoting ourselves to His teachings and studying every move He makes.
Give Him a whole lot of playing time, considering Him in all our thoughts and actions, letting Him speak to us and through us.
Trust and obey Him consistently.
Help others know how special He really is.
Let's make much of Jesus! When we do, all kinds of dots in life connect.
A prayer to consider: LORD, help me to bring honor to Your name by exalting Jesus. Don't let me sideline your Son in any area of my life. To make much of Him is to honor You.
