Athlete, Take Your Complaints to God

Take Your Complaints to God

2  "I pour out my complaints before Him and tell Him all my troubles."

Psalm 142:2 (NLT)

Where do you go with your complaints, cares, troubles ... to a bottle, a beer, a bar? To a babe, a brother, a barber? Do you get another buzz or internalize it all? Do you kick the dog? Kick the bucket?

Where does your hurt get released? Where does your disappointment find care, understanding, relief? The pain we feel builds an invisible prison that's hard to escape. We feel so stuck. Most everywhere we turn holds no keys to unlock us.

Pour out your complaint before God. Follow David's victorious advice. Tell Jesus. Be great at getting to His help desk. Tell Him your trouble. He cares to know like no one else does. (v.4) He holds the key to get you out, lift you up, move you on. Wear out the trail to Him.

Reflect: What's heavy to you right now? Where are you stuck? What's really disappointing in you, in others? Who/What is hard to forgive, to let go? Bring it to God. His “complaint desk” is really good. People come away so restored, so freed.

Prayer to consider today: LORD, here's my junk ... here's what I think is wrong ... Heal me. Fix this. Help me see and understand. Don't leave me bearing this alone. Don't let me be deceived into thinking my primary help can come from elsewhere. Restore my joy for Your glory, my emancipation, and Jesus' sake.
