44,45 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’”
John 6:44,45 (ESV)
Have you ever been deeply drawn in by someone, or to somebody? Have you ever been brilliantly taught by someone? I have: my wife, a prof, a few coaches, preachers, authors, and certainly some dear family and friends have gotten to me pretty good. I'm sure you have your roster too.
Did you know that God is in the drawing and teaching business? The Father draws people to Himself through His Son. He draws people to Jesus.
The nearer we're drawn, the more life makes sense and has purpose. The closer we get, the more joy and peace we experience. He draws us because He loves us and has made that clear in Christ.
And He teaches us, as well. O, to be taught by God Himself, the author of life, the One who knows me best and loves me still! To be drawn by God to Christ and to be taught by Him are the greatest of life's blessings.
Reflect: Have you been drawn by God? Is Jesus increasingly attractive to you? Have you taken a good, long, seeking, loving look at Him lately?
A prayer to consider: LORD, thank You for every moment where You have drawn me to Yourself, to Jesus. The nearer I get, the better I live.
And thank You for teaching me about life, truth, grace and more. My confidence soars when I am around You and grounded in You. Keep coming, drawing and teaching me. You are always welcome here, I mean it with all of my heart. Amen.
